The XFL - Swastika Logo Controversy

The all new XFL football league promises to radically change the world of professional football. Vince McMahon, chairman of the World Wrestling Federation, has garnered press attention with the new league; three networks, including NBC, have signed on with the controversial upstart. However, the rules and practices of the XFL are not its only sources of controversy -- several readers have written into JDL complaining about the logo of one of the XFL teams. The Los Angeles XTreme logo (pictured left) appears to be in the shape of the Nazi swastika, and the similarities are too apparent to ignore.

JDL International Chairman Irv Rubin contacted the Stanford, Connecticut corporation and expressed the concerns that were brought to JDL's attention. Rubin was assured by executives that the logo wasn't meant to be a swastika; rather, it was meant to be patterned after the environment of Los Angeles, which was described as "a swirling, energetic dynamic." Company executives want to hear from you, and JDL is providing the opportunity for you to cast your vote.

Update: Thank you for your participation in our online poll. The results will be forwarded to XFL management. Look to our site for new polls in the future.
