My Uncle Leibel, "Dick" Dickter, resident of Orlando, Fla. embodies the true JDL spirit. He recently overheard some Jew-hater complaing that Hitler, yimach shmo, didn't kill enough Jews. When confronted by my uncle, the jerk called my uncle a "Jew bastard." With that response, my uncle promptly knocked the stuffing out of him. (I should mention that the Nazi-lover is in his 30's and Uncle Leibel is in his 80's.) And so, my uncle was arrested for assault. When appearing before the judge, Uncle Leibel was asked, "How do plead?" He replied, "Your honor, I am a World War II veteran. I have a metal plate in my head from my service and was awarded the Purple Heart. Now I am an elderly man. . . . I didn't serve this country to be called a 'Jew bastard.'" The judge asked again, "How do you plead?" Uncle Leibel said, "What do you think?" Everyone in the courtroom smiled. The judge then gave him a year's suspended probation with the condition that he never appears before that court again. Uncle Leibel then thanked the judge and said, "Your honor, as long as nobody calls me a Jew bastard, you"ll never see me again."

By the way, Uncle Leibel, who is my late grandmother's brother, bought both my father and me our first guns. And recently Uncle Leibel was recently made an honorary lifetime member of Florida JDL, an honor which he cherishes.
