Scott "Doc" Horowitz/Jeff Hoffman
T hese two Jewish guys are out of this world -- literally. They are members of one of America's most elite groups -- NASA astronauts. Horowitz (in blue) was born in Philadelphia but now calls Thousand Oaks, Calif., his home. Before becoming an astronaut, Doc graduated with a bachelor of science degree in engineering from Cal State University at Northridge in 1978, earned a master of science degree in aerospace engineering from Georgia Tech in 1979, and received his Ph.D. in aerospace engineering there in 1982. He was selected by NASA in March 1992, and is a veteran of two space flights, logging over 617 hours in space. He's been assigned to the December 1999 launching of the STS-101, the third Shuttle assembly mission for the International Space Station. Hoffman (in white) was born in Brooklyn but now lives in Scarsdale, N.Y.He graduated from Amherst College with a bachelor of arts degree in astronomy in 1966, received his Ph.D. in astrophysics from Harvard in 1971, and earned a masters degree in materials science from Rice University in 1988. He was selected by NASA in 1978, and is a veteran of five space flights, logging more than 1,211 hours and 21.5 million miles in space.
Jill Matthews
Known as "The Zion Lion," this 5'4", 106 pound, beautiful lady boxer pummels her opponents and wows the crowds with every well placed punch. In 1998, Matthews became the International Association (IFBA) and International Women's Boxing Federation flyweight champion with a victory over Anissa "The Assassin" Zamarron. That fight was nominated for Fight of the Year by the Associated Press, which said it matched "any major men's fight held last year in Atlantic City for its fury and drama." A Jewish woman extraordinaire, Matthews holds a bachelor's degree in nutrition from Hunter College and has her own rock band, Times Square. To top it off, she's married to an attorney and is the daughter-in-law of a rabbi! What a gal.
Shawn Green

Shawn David Green is one of the hottest players in Major League Baseball. Born in 1972, he's an outfielder on the Toronto Blue Jays and lives in Newport Beach, California. This lefty was a star high school ballplayer at Tustin High, where he brought the school distinction by making first team selection on the 1991 USA Today All-USA High School baseball team and by tying the California Interscholastic Federation hit record with 147 during his senior year. He's a graduate of Stanford University, where he studied on a baseball (what else?) scholarship. He sets a good example for professional athletes; he donated a portion of his signing bonus with the Blue Jays to the Metropolitan Toronto Housing Authority Breakfast Club, which provides needy children with hearty meals on a daily basis throughout Toronto. He hits a home run with us.

Debra Messing
The Grace of the NBC comedy hit "Will and Grace" is a perfect combination of looks, intelligence and Jewishness. We are so happy that the writers don't hide the fact that her character, Grace Adler, is Jewish. We first laid our eyes on Debra when she starred on a Ned and Stacy, a Fox sitcom a few years ago, and we instantly fell in love with her. So we're certainly not "messing" around when we say Debra is fantastic!

Bill Goldberg
Imagine an arena of thousands chanting your last name over and over again and erupting into thunderous applause and screams of approval when you step into the crowd's vision. This is the reception given to a nice Jewish boy every night that he wrestles for WCW (World Championship Wrestling). No one, not even Hulk Hogan, has risen to fame and glory as fast as Bill Goldberg. It's so nice to know that Goldberg (6'4" and 285 lbs.) is a totally committed Jew and is considering stitching the Star of David on his trunks. Throughout this former NFL athlete's career, no one in the crowd has ever hurled an anti-Jewish epithet at him, but if they did, he vows it would be the last one they ever made. Goldberg is awesome!

"Judge Judy" Scheindlin
Okay, we don't know if we'd like to appear before her, but we certainly enjoy the kind of justice "Judge Judy" dishes out to those who set foot in her TV courtroom. A judge with years of experience in family court, Scheindlin has brought her tough brand of jurisprudence to the small screen. Judge Judy certainly has delighted programmers, who watch their stations' ratings soar when it's Judy's time to shine. We just love how she peppers her speech with Yiddish, but we are really awed how she can spot a liar a mile away! If you would like to know more about Judge Judy, visit her website, and/or if you're a fan of Officer Byrd (sorry, not Jewish), visit a website devoted to him.

* Final decision to made by a JDL panel of judges
