Counter-Protest Against WBC at Alpert JCC (Long Beach, CA)

JDL Los Angeles will be taking on the Phelps crew when they come to disturb the Alpert Jewish Community Center. All members and supporters in the Los Angeles area are urged to attend this event.

JDL Canada Counter-Protest Against Israel-haters on Nov. 28 (Toronto, Canada)

Anti-Jewish/Anti-Israel groups will be out in force this Shabbat calling for a boycott of Israeli products sold at Mountain Equipment Co-Op (MEC), and JDL Canada will be there to oppose them.

Address: 400 King Street West (a block east of Spadina)

Date/Time: Saturday, November 28, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

If you can stay locally prior to the event, please do so. JDL does not encourage Jews to violate Shabbat, but JDL has a long tradition of standing up when all other Jewish organizations stand down in confronting threats on our holy days. JDL Canada asks you to bring Canadian and Israeli flags to wave, to purchase Israeli products sold at MEC and other companies that import Israeli products and to contact companies to express support of their decision to stock Israeli products.

JDL Los Angeles Gun Class (Artesia, CA)

Update: Sunday’s class is scheduled for 6 p.m. sharp to 9 p.m. and not two hours earlier as previously reflected on this posting and in our last list email. We apologize for any confusion that may have caused and will be sending another list message to clarify the time for those who have not seen this update. Last call to register for our June 14th gun class. This may be one of the only opportunities for gun training for months given the national shortage of ammunition. Members receive a $10 discounted rate of $40, which can be paid for through the donation page. Please specify you are reserving your spot in the class.

JDL Los Angeles Booth at Israel Independence Day Festival

Members and supporters in the Los Angeles area are encouraged to visit JDL’s booth at the 61st Israel Independence Day Festival. The event will be held on May 3rd, between 10 am-7:30 pm at Woodley Park. Members will be able to pick up their new membership cards at the event.

JDL Los Angeles Gun Class (Los Angeles, CA)

JDL Los Angeles will soon be holding a gun class with professional instruction and oversight. The retail value of this NRA certified course is $100, but JDL is offering it to members and supporters for a suggested donation of $20 but will not turn anyone away who cannot afford to donate. The course will last approximately six hours, and participants will receive a certificate of completion. Bottled water will be provided but participants should bring their own lunches. This event has now been set for a firm date of Sunday, March 22nd. We will be meeting at 9:45 am at the corner of Lexicon and Osborne (off the 210 Freeway), near the 7/11. JDL South Florida Defense Meeting

Scheduled for Wednesday, March 4 at 7:30 PM

The next JDL South Florida meeting will be held at Chabad of Parkland on March 4th 7:30 PM. This is of great significance since this synagogue was the victim of vandalism and was listed as a “hate crime” by police. This happened on the eve of the National Holocaust Memorial Day. JDL Canada Counter Protest Against CUPE (Ontario, Canada)

On February 19 to 22, CUPE Ontario will hold a conference in Windsor to discuss an anti-Jewish/Israel resolution introduced by their leader Sid Ryan. The Jewish Defence League will be in Windsor to counter and protest this attempt to introduce into the work place in Ontario hatred for the Jewish People.  The main resolution will be debated on Sunday February 22 at 9:00 in the morning. The JDL is providing bus transportation from Toronto, Saturday evening at 12:00 midnight. Call JDL Canada or email JDL Canada for more information.
