It is time to use the influence we have in our own communities to build a lobby of sorts.

Every one knows someone in there community that is either political or a part of the Judiciary process. If you don’t, You haven’t been to Shul lately. Change of any kind takes time to bring to fruition. We need to start mounting preasure and influence in a world that is trying very hard to forget us again. It is time to start making our voices heard again. We need to do more than just gain active individuals. We need to slowly gain active communities. I see so many communities just focus on issues not related to community survival in the United States. We fail to educate our children fully and they slowly loose touch with our communities and loose their Jewish Identity. We need to create methods that help them get involved in thier communities again. Give them reasons to be proud to be a Jew again.

We have looked at the issues in the world that can cause us grief as a people. We deal with Muslim and Christian extremes trying to convert or kill us. We are the most educated group of people in the world. We have been forced to take over industries and jobs that some felt were beneath them until they realized exactly how important those jobs were. That is all they left us with and they scream conspiracy because we dominate those fields. I say that we start chatting with the influential in our communities. We effectivly use this to help protect our communities. If we all make this push, we can slowly bring the “accepted” way of thinking to reflect that our continuation is paramount.

I know I am on a soap box. I look at the forums on many Jewish websites and I see very few of us post but a great number read. We ALL have to take a more active stance in expressing our opinions and thoughts to preserve our way of life. It doesn’t matter where you are or where you are from. You are a Jew. We need to bring the feeling that we are proud to be jews and we are one people back into every community. When we loose this sense of oneness is when the world decides to pick on us. We all came here because we believe in Never Again. The world is trying to pick on us again because our communities are willing to take it to avoid the conflict. That makes no sense. People are affraid of change and conflict for some reason. If it weren’t for both we would not have had the advancements in our quality of life in the last 100 yrs.

If we work hard to show that we can ALL be Jews and of one mind and stand behind Never Again. They will no longer have the stomach to call us evil because we were tired of having rockets fired at us. They will no longer say that all their troubles are our fault. They will stop trying to blow us up or turn a confused world against us and our children. We need to start with our own communities and use the influence we have as Jews to gain peace however we are left to do so.

I am done on my soap box for now but think about it seriously. Do you want you kids to be beat up at a colleage or school because they are a JEW while the world decides that it was ok to do so?

Remember this is a call to bring peacful values and pride back to our communities. This is a call to bring action to Tikun Olam which is our obligation as Jews.

I just watched this video on the JDL Facebook page, linked by Barzel Israel (Thanks) and I highly recommend it.

Under the section about Jewish Traitors on the JDL website should be Yousef Al Khattab, a Jew who lived in Israel and converted to radical Islam. He talks about how he wants to see Israel wiped off of the map. Sad.

True story—

I showed up at the annual Walk For Israel today as I do every year. And every year, I am armed with JDL brochures, my JDL kipot and, of course, wearing my JDL t-shirt.

Imagine my shock, amazement and total displeasure when I was told by a Federation official that I could not participate in the walk unless I worse an official walk T-shirt or something else.

What the hell?

I asked him why.

1. They want a display of solidarity for Israel—I told the guy that my shirt’s message was about solidarity and the need for continued solidarity.

2. He said the shirt needed a positive message. Oh, I see “never again” is not a positive message.

He tried to continue, but my boiling point was rising and he thought it best not to engage me.

Bottom line—I marched the entire 3 miles and handed out brochures.

If you want to voice your concern—contact the Jewish Federation of Chicago. If you want to contact the individual who thinks he’s above the First Amendment, contact me at JDLChicago at jdl dot org.

Never Again means just that—Never Again—For all Jews, all the time.

We had a pleasant afternoon planned today to celebrate the 62nd birthday of Israel at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. We had music, nosh, and informational tables highlighting the many achievements of Israel. Unfortunately, the Muslim Student Association just couldn’t let us have our fun.

Last night the Muslim Student Association along with the Student Democratic Society covered the plaza where our event was planned today with anti-Israel hate speech and even swastikas. During the event, the MSA showed up all wearing Palestinian flags and rags and disrupted the event. They refused orders from the administration to move to the area reserved for protesters.

Two of the MSA climbed to the top of the rock climbing wall we had rented for the event and planted a Palestinian flag. When one of our group retrieved it and disposed of it in a garbage can, they rushed us. Only one of them was arrested.

Here is the link to the first of probably many articles. Unfortunately the tone makes it look like the MSA didn’t want this to happen and everyone is acting like it’s such a shock.

I was there. I was not shocked.

In Odessa Missouri, Charles Juba is trying to open a teen night club. For those of you who do not know whom Mr. Juba is…He is the former leader of an Arian Nation chapter. The club is called Black Flag, named after the flag a confederate soldier used for his symbol to kill innocent people in the name of the right to have slavery. Mr. Juba has been quoted several times as saying that blacks should swim back to Africa with a Jew under each arm. The city of Odessa does not want this man operating in its town and using the club to recruit teens for the Arian cause. There is a large Jewish population in Kansas City about an hour from Odessa. I am not sure what can be done to help Odessa Missouri keep this person out of their town and away from my communities doorstep. I guess in a way I need help figuring out what to do to slow the disease this man spreads.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared to AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) and the world that Jerusalem is the eternal Jewish capital and will not be relinquished. Netanyahu touched on many of the most important issues facing the Jewish people and the Jewish state. It should go without saying that JDL does not agree with every point he makes, Netanyahu is strengthening Israel’s position and hopefully preparing to bring sanity back to the Israeli political outlook. His next step should be to declare that the failure of the Oslo mindset and to reject the heavily destructive false peace process. The Arab occupiers of Israel do not want peace.
