Tracking Anti-Circumcision Legislation

JDL is actively monitoring the attempts in some jurisdictions by radical atheists to outlaw infant circumcision. One such bill has been introduced in Massachusetts, which would prohibit circucmsion in the state with no exception for anyone under the age of 18. No Massachusetts politicians have announced their support of the legislation, but the mere attempt to pass the ban is highly disturbing.

Bris Milah, the covenant of circumcision, is an absolute necessity for all Jewish males. It was the first part of the Jewish covenant, which was established between Abraham Avienu and G-d. The bris distinguishes Jews and clean Noahides from heathens and is essential if a male wants to be a part of any authentic Jewish community or religious gathering. In various periods of our history Jews have had to contend with evil decrees banning circumcision. Jews have given their lives rather than comply with bans on circumcision.

If any attempt to ban circumcision in any American state were successful, G-d forbid, it would mark a substantial new low for Jews in the United States; any Jew with even a minimal connection to our religion would have to defy the law.  The covenant is so engrained in our people that only a tiny percentage of the most radically left-wing, irreligious “Jews” would make the decision not to have their sons circumcized. JDL contends that those who seek to ban circumcision are effectively Jew-haters and will be opposed vehemently by all legal means. JDL will work to confront proponents of circumcision bans and will keep on top of this vital concern.
