(October 8, 2000) Arab businessman "Abe" Ayad suddenly has painted over the despicable anti-Jewish mural he once proudly displayed on his Cleveland car wash building, and he is blaming the Jewish Defense League for pressuring him to do so. It was JDL that first exposed Cleveland, Ohio's dirty little secret of tolerating the most vicious example of Jew-hatred since the Third Reich. When JDL spread the information through its website and mailing lists, however, thousands of people worldwide expressed their outrage that such overt antisemitism was allowed to be displayed in an American city. The new mural makes the allegation that JDL has threatened the life of Ayad's daughter. This is a dirty lie. Just as he lied about Benjamin Franklin making anti-Jewish remarks, Ayad lies about JDL threatening a little girl. The Jewish Defense League, however, wants to inform Ayad that if he even dreams of creating another Jew-hating mural, we will fulfill our promises to publicly protest him wherever he may rear his ugly head. JDL also has a few words for the Jewish establishment in Cleveland and elsewhere: Your behind-the-scenes approach was a complete failure. Ayad, like an animal, smelled your weakness. If it weren't for JDL's pressure on this morally bankrupt individual, that mural would still be desecrating the memory of the Six Million and the entire Jewish population of the world. You should take a lesson from JDL's tactics; the nice-guy approach doesn't work on filthy Jew-haters.
JDL's Original Story. . . (September 25, 2000) CLEVELAND, OHIO -- An Arab businessman has adorned his building with an anti-Jewish mural and no one in this city of 83,000 Jews has the guts to paint over it. The Jewish Defense League is disgusted over the inaction of every Jew in that city that allows this atrocity to continue. The mural quotes a purported "prophecy of [18th century American statesman] Benjamin Franklin" with the words, "Jews Appreciate Nothing and Expect Everything." The pictures around the words show a series of Jewish caricatures squeezing blood (money) out of the world. Above the pictures appears a phone number for contributions, and the words "In Loving Memory of Pvt. Esmiel M. Ayad." The mural also depicts a Holocaust survivor walking around with a backpack of dollars. The building is located at 55th and Cedar. The owner of the building and commissioner of this spectacle of hate is Abe Ayad. JDL is sorry to say that the Jews of Cleveland, Ohio desecrate the name of God every day the mural is allowed to stand in its present condition.
